There are several different mediums that I use in creating my artwork, and I enjoy discovering new mediums, new ways to use mediums to create different effects, and the use of non-traditional mediums. Some of my favorite mediums are:
Acrylic Paint
Adhesives
Burlap
Cheesecloth
Coffee
Concrete
Fluid Acrylic Paint
Found and Re-purposed Materials
Hand-made Stretched Canvas
Lightweight Spackle
Liquid Graphite
Matt Medium
Paper Mache Paste
Powdered Graphite
Spices
Varnish
Woven Fiber Ribbon
I have been creating art since the young age of six, when I took my first art lesson. Generally I use my artwork as a creative outlet to express emotions and thoughts. I also love the general aspect of using my hands to create something new. I love exploring new materials and techniques and rarely, if ever use brushes for when I paint. I feel that there is a greater connection between me and my artwork when I don't use brushes, and instead use my hands. Lately I have been addicted to creating interesting and new textures as a base layer to my artwork. I enjoy the visual tactile feel that it adds to my work. I mostly use hand-stretched canvases that I make, wood, or pressed boards as my base, that I add texture to using various materials that I build up on it with or collage onto, before adding and building layers of other mediums onto on top.
There is no “right” way to hang my artwork. Hang it in the direction you wish! In fact, most of the time, I actually create my artwork in one direction, and then hang it in another. I also enjoy changing directions of the way artwork is hung and enjoying it from different perspectives.
